Exhibitor Information

PTB Bio is a biotech venture commercializing a skin-penetrating peptide platform developed at Inha University. Without any physical stimulation (e.g., microneedling or electroporation), our carrier-free technology delivers active compounds through the skin barrier into the epidermis, upper dermis, and hair follicles, while the peptide carrier itself exerts anti-inflammatory activity. Building on this platform, we are primarily developing a treatment for androgenetic alopecia (AGA). Because the platform's applicability extends across drugs and indications, we are also expanding into additional skin-disease treatments, supported by a melanoma-treatment study published in an international peer-reviewed journal and by ongoing verification of its applicability to atopic dermatitis.

Exhibit Description

PTB Bio's core technology is a carrier-free transdermal peptide platform delivering active compounds through the skin barrier into the epidermis, upper dermis, and deep hair follicles without physical stimulation. Oral finasteride/dutasteride raise systemic-exposure concerns, minoxidil's effect vanishes on discontinuation, and topical finasteride (Pinjube) only extends scalp retention, narrowly improving delivery. Our platform matched or exceeded minoxidil's hair-growth efficacy in animal models at just 0.025mg, about 1/40 of the oral dose, while the carrier peptide's own anti-inflammatory activity lets it double as the therapeutic agent -- our carrier-free differentiator. We are prioritizing an AGA treatment, expanding next into melanoma and atopic dermatitis.

  • Product Name : Skin-Penetrating Peptide-Based Transdermal Delivery Platform and AGA Treatment
    This platform is an amphiphilic skin-penetrating peptide combining an Eosinophil Cationic Protein-derived cell-penetrating peptide with hydrophobic/aromatic amino acids. It self-assembles with finasteride into tens-of-nanometer nanocomplexes, delivering the drug through the skin barrier to the epidermis, upper dermis, and hair follicles without physical stimulation (e.g., microneedling). The carrier peptide itself has anti-inflammatory activity, combining drug delivery with therapeutic effect. In cell and animal studies, the peptide-finasteride complex outperformed either component alone, matching or exceeding minoxidil in hair growth and anagen conversion; published in Biomacromolecules. Next steps: efficacy/PK-PD in disease models and GLP repeat-dose safety testing.
