Gencellmed Inc. is developing oncolytic viruses and gene therapies based on its SMART™ platform, which re-engineers the HSV cell-entry mechanism to enable selective infection and gene delivery to specific target cells.
Its lead asset, GCM-101, is a targeted oncolytic virus under development for EpCAM-positive ovarian cancer and peritoneal metastatic solid tumors, and is currently in preclinical development with IND preparation underway. Gencellmed is also expanding its pipeline with replication-defective HSV gene therapy candidates for skin regeneration and ophthalmic diseases.

By restricting natural HSV entry and introducing target receptor-based retargeting, the platform is designed to enhance target-cell selectivity. SMART™ can be applied to both oncolytic viruses and replication-defective HSV gene therapies and supports combinations of different targets and therapeutic genes across oncology, skin regeneration, and ophthalmic diseases. The platform is currently applied to GCM-101 and additional gene therapy pipelines, with licensing, co-development, and global partnerships being pursued.

Product Name : GCM-101GCM-101 is a targeted oncolytic HSV candidate for EpCAM-positive ovarian cancer and peritoneal metastatic solid tumors. It is designed for intraperitoneal (IP) administration and selective infection and lysis of EpCAM-expressing tumor cells. GCM-101 expresses IL-12 and FLT3L to promote anti-tumor immune responses, while PH20 degrades hyaluronic acid in the tumor stroma to enhance viral and immune-cell penetration. Through these mechanisms, GCM-101 combines direct tumor killing, immune activation, and tumor microenvironment modulation. The program is currently in preclinical development, with IND-enabling activities including CMC, manufacturing process development, and GLP toxicology preparation underway. GenCellMed plans to pursue licensing, co-development, and global partnerships.
